YOGA STUDIO | GUELPH, ON
TYPE: INTERIOR RENOVATION
COMPLETED IN: 2009
AREA: 3,800sf
This restoration project converted an existing 3,800sf storage space into a stylish hot yoga studio. While primarily used as the studio, the space is additionally used for wedding receptions and community social events. Reinstatement of the original facade and creating a new street level entrance with a commercial space warmly invites people as they enter the studio. Reclaimed floor joists were used as built-in furniture and finishes throughout. Further finishes were carefully selected to emit a sense of calm with a modern appeal. Existing rough limestone walls and original maple floor joists are exposed and enhanced with subtle lighting and natural elements, like river stones, creating a comfortable environment. Rough Muskoka hemlock pillars form supporting posts in the change rooms. Specialized mechanical systems were designed to accomodate the required temperature and humidity needed in a hot yoga studio session. Further amenities include rooms for treatment/massage therapy, cool down areas, retain and rooftop terrace providing an outdoor lounge.
