ABOYNE LOOKOUT & STAIRS | ABOYNE, ON
COMPLETED IN: 2018
TYPE: NEW CONSTRUCTION
The Aboyne Stair and Lookout were an addition to an already extensive network of trail amenities flanking the Grand River near the Wellington County Museum and Archives. The new stair, complete with bicycle ramps, sits directly in front of the museum to provide ease of access to the trails while the lookout is perched beneath the old rail bridge – now a pedestrian walkway – just up-river from the access point. The lookout cantilevers over the edge of the bridge’s historic limestone pier, which prompted thorough structural, geotechnical, environmental and historical investigations.
